Who We Are

As Anglicans, we are a branch of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ.  The word 'Anglican' refers to our heritage and roots in the Church of England.

We uphold historic Catholic faith, Apostolic order, and Evangelical witness as set forth in the 1928 American edition of the Book of Common Prayer.  Our services continue the dignified Anglican liturgy.

Our faith is based on the Word of God found in Holy Scripture, as interpreted by the universally accepted Ecumenical Councils held by the whole Christian Church before any divisions took place.  We have not changed these essentials to conform to modern, secularizing trends.

We are a member church of the Traditional Anglican Communion, which is a worldwide association of orthodox Anglican churches, working to maintain the catholic faith and resist the secularization of the Church.  Our member churches may be found in the USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, India, and Central & South America.

St. Aidan's is a parish in the Diocese of the Missouri Valley, Anglican Church in America, the U.S. branch of the Traditional Anglican Communion.  St. Aidan's has been a presence in the community since the late 1970's, and moved in 1985 to our permanent church home at 4911 Meredith Drive in Des Moines.  There you will be welcomed by a friendly, loving, and caring parish family.  Come and see St. Aidan's:  a place to believe, grow, and serve.
